Jay Nair is a consultant with over 12 years of experience in Transmission Planning, Renewable Energy Integration and transmission due diligence. He has been supporting activities to develop industry standards for the modeling/simulation of energy markets and due diligence and has functioned as the independent transmission consultant for many wind and solar generation projects in ERCOT and SPP Market. He supports due diligence assessments providing services to banks/equity investors, developers, and other energy market participants primarily focused on impacts of existing and planned transmission system on clients’ financial, development, reliability, planning, and economic decisions related to generation and transmission assets.

Prior to joining Transmission Analytics, Mr. Nair worked as a Transmission Planning Engineer for Nova Scotia Power for 10 years and as an Interconnection Engineer with Juwi Solar for 2 years. His expertise includes Transmission Planning and Expansion Strategies, Interconnection Siting analysis, performing and reviewing Interconnection Studies, NERC Reliability Standards and Compliance, Operational Planning and Outage studies. He has served as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to meet compliance requirements for various Transmission Planning standards and provided Interconnection Strategy for numerous projects with multiple RTO/ISO and utilities in North America. Mr. Nair’s educational background includes a B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Dalhousie University, Canada.

Mr. Nair is consistently evolving the practices and processes to support the changing needs of equity investors, developers, utilities, and other stakeholders for issues of relevance to the industry. His knowledge of the energy markets has enabled him to develop investment grade energy market models and provide the best possible data/information to the client. He continues to transform complex technical information into components for making economic and risk-based decisions involving curtailment, congestion, due diligence, and market assessments for wholesale delivery using state of-the-art tools such as Security Constrained Economic Dispatch (SCED) and load flow analysis.
